Creators’ don’t Die hosted Robb Bank$ and Tony Shhnow on July 21 along with other Texas talents for what some might call the underground concert of the summer. Robb Bank$ frequent Dallas while touring across the country, with little to no surprise Dallas was the fourth stop on this tour. In the past he’s traveled to Dallas with underground rap collective ‘Members Only’ with headliner ‘XXXTENTATION’.
In 2018, he toured exclusively with Wifisfuneral to perform their collaborative album ‘Conn3c3t3d’ This time around Atlanta Rapper, Tony Shhnow, joined up with Robb to vibe with the Dallas crowd Sunday night.
The ticket cost ranged from $20 to $130 specifically for the Creators’ don’t Die venue, ticket packages came with different perks. The basic admission is $20, for $30 extra attendees were allowed to bring professional cameras. The highest ticket package at $130 included a meet and greet with the two headliners.
I bought a ‘media pass' ticket to have access to a ‘media area’ and ability to bring my professional camera. There were many photographers and videographers in the crowd but I was met with great disappointment because the specified area was nonexistent. The faculty explained to me that the artist or venue did not want a media area, however cameras were allowed.
The concert flyer appeared to have two DJs sets leading into Robb and Tony’s performance set at 10 P.M. However the flyer failed to mention that there were multiple openers accompanying the DJs. The Dallas crowd was exposed to talents from Houston, Florida, and Dallas’ very own.
The openers for the concert struggled with the Dallas audience, the crowd lit by their own hype men killed the aura that was present. The crowd had around 50 people and with each opener the same couple of men would hype up the unimpressed crowd. The headliners came out 45 minutes past 10 P.M. after roughly 5 openers.
Tony Shhnow eventually took over the stage and swooned the crowd with songs off his new project, ‘Out The Woods’. After the crowd was satisfied by Tony’s performance the energy was finally in the venue. When Robb hit the stage the crowd was enamored by his presence before he began to perform.
Robb set off his performance with music from his new project as well, ‘Calendars’. He also performs a couple oldies such as ‘225’ from the popular album ‘Molly World’. Robb and Tony began to perform their own collaborative album as well, with the crowd chanting the lyrics back to them.
With the energy up Robb began to take requests from the crowd. Robb interacted with the audience, and livened up the crowd before closing out his performance. At the end he thanked Dallas and met his fans at his merch table, whether they had meet and greet tickets or not.
Both rappers stayed in the venue to talk with fans and signed shirts and other merch. I talked extensively with both rappers and enjoyed the energy they had with me. They were both very personable and sweet, the 1-on-1 I had with them created a long term fan for the both despite the venue and scheduling mishaps.
