City Cinderella JT never ‘Ran Out’ of bars on new single: Ran Out Review

JT has fully rebranded into a solo act, trading the City Girls for the one and only, City Cinderella. The duo was struggling to stay or even rap together after Yung Miami made it clear that rapping is a hobby and she’s more of a socialite. As Yung Miami started Caresha, Please! the two grew more distant as there have been multiple instances of friendly fire between the two on social media. After dropping her mixtape, City Cinderella, last summer fans had confirmation that JT was now a solo act.

I listened to the stand out singles, OKAY and JT Coming, on City Cinderella but the full mixtape never grasped my attention. During the time JT started her transition into a solo artist she dropped a three single run including No Bars, OKAY, and Sideways.

No Bars tells of a tale of new beginnings for JT. She was hungry and willing to prove that she is capable of rapping solo. This got me and many other fans invested in her solo career, very unsuspecting of the direction her style was evolving into.

Although JT sold 26,000 unit, outselling City Girls, she was fighting for her life proving her style and establishing herself as a female rapper that is alt, femme, and supportive of LGBT especially for transwomen. As she started surrounding herself with the likes of BabyxSosa, Docheii, and other alt female rappers, her aesthetic became more apparent.

On Ran Out JT flows over a 2000s southern bling beat, her delivery is great as always but the lyrics are not as punchy as the flow. She has some great one liners, but the rest of the song falls a little flat for me. JT tends to struggle making tracks longer than 2 minutes, she does a great job maintaining the flow but she does not exceed my expectations.

Her confidence is what brings this track alive for me, she is truly in her own lane as I can’t picture other rappers replicating this track. However, the bars hit but they sound too similar to what she conveys in her singles mentioned prior. The track is easy to bop your head to, twerk, and dance but I would prefer No Bars over this track, all day.

Ran Out gives the same vibes as No Bars but more chill and almost more mature. I wish that she just had the same hunger she did on No Bars and this would’ve been perfect.

I am very excited to see what else JT has in store for us, I hope that she collaborates with more artists that are outside her scope and brings us more of that alternative vibe. I want to see the JT that featured on Alter Ego with Docheii, if she accesses that potential the rap game could be hers.
